So after all this, what have I concluded? That Jacob brought each one of them there for a reason. 1) Jacob wanted to prove to the MIB and himself that man was not naturally corrupt and that man could change for the good. ( I’m reminded of Padme and Luke saying “There’s good in him”.) and 2) Because he knew that the MIB had to be stopped if the world was to continue on and that the only way to stop him was to kill him.

The MIB thought he had found his loophole when he killed Jacob, but I honestly believe that Jacob expected to die because this was the only way that his plan to stop the MIB would work. He had to die to test the faith of Jack and the others long enough so that they would believe in the specialness of the Island. And after he convinced them, he was able to transfer his powers over to Jack. I want to believe that he convinced Widmore to join the good side again and made him bring Desmond to the Island because of his special electromagnetic properties or immunity to them. Desmond was brought there to be able to unplug the hole in the pool of the Heart of the Island, long enough for the MIB to turn mortal and Jack to kill him once and for all. Once the threat of the MIB was abolished, the Light could be turned back on and the Island would be safe once again.

Jack proved to be the right man for this job. He made the ultimate sacrifice for mankind in going down the cave and saving the Island. Right before he died, that was when we learn that he truly learned to “let go” and he could finally move on. Where did they go after the white light engulfed them all in the church? That is debatable and will be argued for years to come. I’m not a really religious person, so I don’t believe the show was completely based on religion. I think it was about spirituality. It bothers me a bit when people are trying to say that LOST is all about religion. Just because you are spiritual doesn’t necessarily mean that you are religious or that you even believe in a GOD. God was mentioned a few times in the series but it wasn’t because they were worshiping him in any way. Everyone believed in something or became spiritual in their own way. The show always talked about the Man of Faith and the Man of Science but as to religion it steered clear. Anyways…

I think the ending to Lost was perfect. I think that it really was true to the character’s stories and in retrospect it was the only way that LOST could end. I don’t think I would have been satisfied if Lost gave us some sort of complex list of answers that dealt with everything from the mysterious apparitions/ghosts, hatches, the time travel, spacetime, electromagnetic properties and everything in between that we are still unsure about.

I like the way it was vague just enough to let us come up with our own conclusions about the characters, and why that person did this and why that person did that.

Anyways, sorry for talking your ears off. But I had to get that out of my system. I have been watching LOST for 6 years like many other fans and I just needed to get my two cents off my chest. I have read other articles and blogs and forums on LOST, and people are still confused about when the Losties died. Some are saying that they have always been dead or that they died when Juliet detonated the Hydrogen bomb or when the 2nd Oceanic plane was in the air.

To be clear:
The Losties all died at different times. Charlie died in season 3. Juliet died after detonating the bomb, Sun, Jin and Sayid died in the submarine and Jack died at the very final scene of Season 6. The people that escaped the Island on the Ajira probably lived on for many more years. Hurley probably died many centuries later after spending all those years protecting the Island. The Alt timeline was just that place where they all went to when they came to terms with their previous lives. Because they would have never gotten there without each other. The needed each other.

Lost was the story of Jack and the others coming to terms with their spirituality.

Last two words. I promise.

Great Ending!
